Help with Numea Home.

The installation, the lamp on the controller, the messages on the thermostat, and the most common problems.

To unplug the controller is always safe. The heat pump then reads its own outdoor sensor, straight away, and heats as it did before Numea Home was fitted.

The installation

The guide on your phone takes you through the installation and checks the wiring before anything is saved. This is how you start it.

  1. Place the controller by the heat pump. Put the USB-C cable in the socket marked POWER and the charger in a wall socket.
  2. The lamp marked STATUS shines amber for about half a minute. Then it breathes slowly in green, and the guide is ready.
  3. Choose the network Numea-Setup-XXXX in your phone’s Wi-Fi settings. XXXX is four characters that are different for each controller. The network has no password.
  4. Scan the QR code on the printed guide, or type http://192.168.4.1/ in the browser’s address bar.

Your phone says that the network has no internet. That is correct: the network reaches only the controller. Stay on it.

If it does not work

The lamp is dark

The controller gets no power. Push the USB-C cable fully into POWER and try another wall socket.

The network does not show

Wait until the lamp breathes green. Then look in the Wi-Fi list again.

The page does not open

Check that your phone is still on Numea-Setup-XXXX. Type the address in the address bar, not in the search box. Also try http://numea.local/.

The guide says the wiring is not right

The guide shows what to correct. Switch the heat pump off, as its own manual says, before you move a wire.

How the installation goes, step by step: Installation

The lamp on the controller

The lamp shines through the hole marked STATUS, and it can be up to a minute behind. When it is not green, the heat pump heats on its own outdoor sensor, as it did before Numea Home was fitted.

Steady green

Numea Home controls the heat pump.

Nothing. This is how it should look.

Steady amber

The controller is starting. It takes about 35 seconds.

Wait.

Dark

The controller has stepped out, or it has no power.

Check the power cable in POWER. If it is in, wait an hour: after three short losses of the heat pump’s signal, the controller rests for an hour and then tries again. Get in touch if the lamp stays dark for more than a day.

Two green flashes, then a pause

The controller has not heard the thermostat for 100 minutes. The thermostat is too far away, or the two are not paired.

Check that the thermostat is charged. Move it closer to the controller. If that does not help, pair them again, see below.

Two red flashes, then a pause

Too cold indoors: the room reached the freeze guard.

Find out why it is cold: an open window, a closed valve, or a heat pump that has stopped.

Amber, one blink each second

The controller cannot see the heat pump.

Check that the heat pump has power. Then pull gently at each wire in the connector marked HEAT PUMP. If the pump has power and both wires are firm, swap the two wires. The lamp changes by itself when it is right.

Steady red

Safe mode: the controller stopped itself. It restarts by itself after a few seconds.

If it comes back, unplug the controller, wait ten seconds and plug it in again. Then open the guide again and go through it. If it still comes back, get in touch.

Green, slow breathing

The guide is open.

Join the network Numea-Setup-XXXX with your phone and follow the guide.

Amber, two blinks each second

Pairing: somebody pressed the button PAIR. The controller looks for the thermostat for three minutes.

Start pairing on the thermostat.

Amber, fast blinks for five seconds

The controller found no thermostat.

Start pairing on the thermostat first. Then press the button PAIR on the controller again.

Amber, breathing

The controller is updating.

Do not unplug the controller.

Messages on the thermostat

When something needs your attention, the plate with the target temperature turns red and shows a message. The heat pump keeps heating in the meantime.

Not sent - retrying

A change of target has not reached the controller yet.

Nothing. Any press takes the message away.

Controller no heat pump

The controller cannot see the heat pump.

Look at the lamp on the controller. It blinks amber once each second: do as the row for it says, above.

Controller no sensor

The controller has not heard the thermostat for 100 minutes.

Keep the thermostat charged, and move it closer to the controller.

Controller too cold

The room reached the freeze guard.

Find out why the room is cold.

No controller

The thermostat cannot reach the controller. It is too far away, or the two are not paired.

Check that the controller has power and that its lamp is lit. Move the thermostat closer to the controller. If that does not help, pair them again, see below.

Battery low

The battery is at 20 % or less.

Charge the thermostat.

Pairing needed

The thermostat is not paired with a controller.

Pair them, see below.

Common problems

Try a step twice. If it does not help, get in touch. The house stays warm in the meantime: the heat pump heats on its own outdoor sensor whenever the controller is out.

The thermostat’s screen is dark

Plug in the charging cable. If the screen says Hold the middle button, hold it for one second.

The first press does nothing

That is correct. The first press only wakes the screen.

The room is colder or warmer than the target

Give it a day: the heat pump and the house react slowly. If the temperature swings, choose the profile Conservative under Settings, Control, Profile. If it is too slow, choose Responsive.

The room is cold and the screen says Not heating

The heat pump reads 20 °C or more. Check the heat pump’s own summer or heating-stop setting.

The controller restarts again and again

Use the charger that came with Numea Home.

You want everything as it was before

Unplug the controller.

Open the guide again

Open the guide again to change your Wi-Fi, your heat pump, or the way you use Numea Home.

  1. On the thermostat, open Settings, then Connection, then Re-open setup. Answer Yes.
  2. The screen says Setup page open and names a network. Join that network with your phone.
  3. Type http://192.168.4.1/ in the browser’s address bar.

The guide stays open for ten minutes. In that time the heat pump heats on its own outdoor sensor. If you use Numea Home with Home Assistant, you open the guide with the button PAIR on the controller.

Pair the thermostat and the controller

They are paired when you get them. Pair them again when you have replaced one of them.

  1. Press the button PAIR on the controller. The lamp blinks amber twice each second, and the controller looks for the thermostat for three minutes.
  2. On the thermostat, open Settings, then Connection, then Pair with controller. Answer Yes. The thermostat restarts and says Pairing....
  3. Wait for Paired!. Press the middle button.

If the screen says Pairing needed, the thermostat found no controller. Press PAIR on the controller again, then press the middle button on the thermostat to search again.

Restart

A restart loses nothing.

The thermostat

Open Settings, then System, then Reboot. Or push a paper clip into the thermostat’s small hole.

The controller

Push a paper clip into the small hole beside PAIR. Or pull the power cable out and plug it in again.

The heat pump heats on its own outdoor sensor while the controller restarts. Do not hold PAIR while you plug in the power cable: the controller then does not start, and the lamp stays dark. Pull the cable out and plug it in again.

Remove Numea Home

Switch the heat pump off, as its own manual says. Unplug the controller. Take the controller’s wires out of the connectors. Then join the sensor cable again as it was, with one or both connectors: one connector holds two joins, so a cable with four wires needs both. Put each wire from the outdoor sensor opposite the wire from the heat pump that it was cut from, and close the levers. Switch the heat pump on. It then works as it did before.
