Numea Home with Home Assistant
Numea Home can join your own Zigbee network. You then see the room temperature and set the heat from Home Assistant, like everything else in your home.
The thermostat and the controller still work as a pair: the thermostat sends the room temperature to the controller. The heating also works when Home Assistant is down, as long as your Zigbee coordinator runs.
What you need
- Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA, already running with its Zigbee coordinator.
- Zigbee2MQTT: one file from us, until Numea Home is part of Zigbee2MQTT. Beta testers get the file from us.
- ZHA: the controller and the thermostat are standard Zigbee devices, so there should be nothing to add. ZHA is not fully tested yet.
How to connect
- In the guide on your phone, choose to use Numea Home with Home Assistant.
- The guide shows the controller’s install code and address. Add the code in Zigbee2MQTT or Home Assistant, then let new devices join.
- Pair the thermostat when the guide asks. It then joins your Zigbee network by itself, with no code.
- Finish the guide. The controller restarts and joins.
You do not need to bind anything. The thermostat and the controller find each other through their pairing.
What Home Assistant shows
- The controller
- Climate: the room temperature from the thermostat, the temperature you set, and whether it is heating.
- The controller
- The outdoor temperature, from the heat pump’s own outdoor sensor.
- The thermostat
- The room temperature.
- The thermostat
- The battery.
Home Assistant lists them as “Numea Heat” and “Numea Sense”, the names on the labels.
Set the temperature in Home Assistant or on the thermostat. The most recent change wins.
The controller takes the room temperature only from its own thermostat. Other sensors in Home Assistant do not change it.
What is different
- The schedule, away mode and electricity-price steering work only when Numea Home is used on its own. With Home Assistant, you make them as automations.
- Updates come through Home Assistant. An update of the controller over Zigbee takes a couple of hours.
- You can change between the two ways later.
Two automations
Replace climate.your_controller with the controller’s climate entity in your Home Assistant.
