[email protected]What is Numea Home?
Numea Home is a room thermostat for your heat pump, and a controller that you connect at the pump. The thermostat reads the temperature in the room, and the pump heats to it.
Does it fit my heat pump?
Numea Home works with most heat pumps that have a wired outdoor sensor. The outdoor sensor is a small box on an outside wall. A thin cable runs from it to the heat pump.
Not sure? Email us the model and we will answer.
See makes and modelsMy heat pump already has a room sensor. Does that work?
Yes. Turn off the heat pump’s own room sensor, so that only Numea Home steers by the room.
Which heat pumps does it not fit?
Heat pumps without a wired outdoor sensor.
My make is not in the list. Does it fit?
It can. The outdoor sensor decides, not the make.
Email us the make and model, and we will answer.
How does it work?
Your heat pump knows how cold it is outside, not how warm it is inside.
The controller sits between the heat pump and its outdoor sensor. The thermostat reads the room. The controller adjusts what the pump believes the outdoor temperature is, so the pump heats to the room instead of to a curve someone set years ago.
Do I need an electrician?
No. You install it yourself, in under 30 minutes.
The cable is thin and low-voltage, unlike the pump’s mains supply. Nothing changes inside the heat pump.
See how the installation worksCan I remove it again?
Yes. Unplug the controller, and the pump heats as before, straight away.
To remove it completely, join the sensor cable again with the connector that is included.
What happens in a power cut, or if something goes wrong?
The controller then steps out of the circuit, and the heat pump heats as before, by its own outdoor sensor.
How far from the heat pump can the thermostat be?
The wireless link is tested from the basement to the top floor of a house. Thick concrete and stone weaken it more than distance does.
Can I have more than one thermostat?
Not yet. The controller takes the room temperature from one thermostat.
Support for more thermostats will probably come later. Email us if you are interested.
Does it need the internet or an account?
No. Numea Home works without a server, an account or an internet connection. The thermostat and the controller talk directly to each other, in your home.
Some functions, for example electricity-price steering, need the internet to fetch the current prices.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes. Numea Home can join your own Zigbee network. You then see the room temperature and set the heat from Home Assistant, like everything else in your home.
The thermostat and the controller still work as a pair: the thermostat sends the room temperature to the controller. The heating also works when Home Assistant is down, as long as your Zigbee coordinator runs.

The schedule, away mode and electricity-price steering work only when Numea Home is used on its own. With Home Assistant, you make them as automations.
Updates come through Home Assistant. An update of the controller over Zigbee takes a couple of hours.
What can it do besides hold the temperature?
Schedule: Cooler at night, warm by morning. Set a daily or weekly schedule and adjust the temperatures on the thermostat.
Away mode: Turn the heat down when you travel. Say when you will be home, and the house is warm again when you walk in.
Electricity-price steering: If you want: the house heats a little more when power is cheap and a little less when it is expensive, without the room drifting from your temperature. You can use this function if you have a variable electricity price. It needs the internet to fetch the current prices.
Do I save electricity?
Probably. It depends on the house and the pump, and we have no measurements to show yet. Numea Home is made for even heat in the room.
What does it cost?
The price is not decided.
